Writer Director Producer

Previously working as a Development Executive for Producers Matt Alvarez (2012-2015) and Scott Bernstein (2015-2018), Matt Leslie was heavily involved in developing the script for the 2015 box office smash STRAIGHT OUTTA COMPTON. In 2018, he left the development world, co-writing (with partner Stephen J. Smith) and producing the indie thriller SUMMER OF ‘84, which premiered in the Midnight Lineup at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival. In 2024, Leslie wrote WINNIE THE POOH: BLOOD & HONEY 2, the sequel to the 2023 hit film of the same name. The forthcoming mystery-horror film DON’T OPEN THE DOOR (formerly called THE KNOCKING), produced by Kodiak Pictures and Defiant Studios, marks Leslie & Smith’s feature directorial debut. The writing-directing-producing duo currently have a number of scripted projects in development.
